The ESL for Customer Service job training program improves the employability of unemployed or underemployed low-income adult immigrants with limited English proficiency by providing eight weeks of training in customer service and general workplace skills integrated with ESOL instruction. The training also covers applying for jobs online and strategies for successful interviews. Outside of the classroom, participants will have opportunities to visit local employers, learn from guest speakers, and attend small recruiting events. Upon completion of the training, participants will be ready to enter and retain employment as sales associates, cashiers, bank tellers, baristas, food service workers, and a variety of other customer service roles.
All participants must meet the following requirements:
• Intermediate English language learner
• At least eighteen years old
• City of Boston resident
• Available to work at least 30 hours per week
