Job readiness and customer service classes: Job readiness classes include instruction on how to complete job applications, design resumes, write cover letters, prepare reference lists, conduct employer research, gain new computer skills, prepare interview techniques and follow-up questions for employers, obtain an email account, complete online applications, handle telephone screenings by employers, ensure appropriate personal hygiene, and overcome employment barriers. Customer service topics include knowing your customers, nonverbal communication, telephone etiquette, first impressions, communicating with unsatisfied customers, and problem solving. Students will learn and practice soft skills such as active listening, following directions working with difficult patients and co-workers, understanding family dynamics, communicating with patients and co-workers, professionalism, nonverbal communication, voice tone and body language, as well as cultural competency.
