The Literacy Project, Inc. (TLP) offers Adult Basic Education classes, also known as Basic Skills classes. The ABE program helps people build a strong foundation of academic skills to fulfill their roles as workers, parents, and citizens/community members. Skills taught include communication, conflict resolution and critical thinking, reading, writing, and math. In addition to teaching academic basics, TLP’s ABE students study community issues and discuss current events of concern to all. They become engaged in their communities by volunteering, obtaining library cards, attending town meetings, and registering to vote.
